SAG BEAUTY AWARDS

Once again the red-carpet was filled with a bevy of beauties at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards. But we started to wonder: "Who sent out the celeb-wide note outlining the official look of the night as a deep side part, romantic waves and a ruby red pout?" While we have many faves from this year’s SAG awards, we found these three beauty looks especially stunning because they broke the mold and dared to do something a little different! 

Only Kelly Osbourne could manage to make lavender locks look completely classic! The Fashion Police co-host hit a high note as she daringly paired a firetruck red lip with her purple up-do. What can we learn from Kelly? Don't be afraid of color!

There's just something about French women! Marion Cotillard debuted her sophisticated and sleek chin-length bob on the SAG carpet. Along with her thick, groomed brows, the cut frames her face perfectly and shows off her beautiful blue eyes. 

With a red head of barely-there curls, cat eye makeup, and plump pink lips, Jessica Chastain was a real-life Jessica Rabbit.  We can't get enough of her glow!

Golden Globes 2013 Recap

The stars at this year’s Golden Globes covered a broad spectrum of trends! Gowns ranged from glittering nude lace to black plunging necklines and beauty trends from soft, retro wavy hairdos to strong, “notice-me” berry lips were seen on the red carpet!

Deep hues were seen on luscious, celeb lips. This dark, mysterious hue definitely popped on the red carpet, especially when against fair skin!

Jennifer Lopez sizzled in white and nude Zuhair Murad lace.

Red-Hot Gowns

It was a red-hot red carpet last night with all the fiery colored gowns we saw!

Zooey Deschanel styled her Oscar de la Renta with simple but elegant pearls, staying true to her retro-girly style.

The back detail and draping of Naomi Watts’ Zac Posen creation was to die for!!

Best Actress, Comedy or Musical winner Jennifer Lawrence’s waist looked tiny in a belted Dior Haute Couture gown.

RISKTAKERS OF THE NIGHT

These ladies get a round of applause from us at Chic! They proved that taking fashion risks can really pay off.

Angelina Jolie’s leg has officially been replaced by Eva Longoria’s leg! Look at her working that ultra-high slit in her Emilio Pucci gown.

Katharine McPhee made our jaws drop in this Theyskens Theory plunging neckline. Paired with a topknot, she really took some risks.

Julianne Hough stepped outside the box in Monique Lhuillier (or did she take a cue from Miley Cyrus?) and styled her coif in an edgy pompadour. Her confidence pulled off the unconventional ‘do on the carpet!

Zooey Deschanel’s film strip manicure was adorable and perfectly suited for the night!

Kelly Osbourne’s nails were another fav with supersharp golden hearts.

CHIC ICON: Jayne Mansfield

Meet our latest Chic Icon, one of Hollywood’s original blonde bombshells: Jayne Mansfield!

 Multifaceted and multitalented, Jayne was an actress in many hit films and television shows, on Broadway, a singer and one of the early Playboy Playmates. 

The buxom blonde quickly rose to stardom in 1957, winning a Golden Globe for “New Star of the Year”. 

Jayne was the proud owner of “The Pink Palace”, a mansion she bought in Beverly Hills. The luxurious abode was so given the name because everything in it was pink, Jayne’s favorite color (we can’t blame her for loving the hue)!

CHIC HOLIDAY FASHION TRENDS

With our CHIC STUDIOS New Year’s Eve Style Guide and post on how to throw the perfect New Year’s bash, there’s no doubt that you rang in 2013 fabulously! The glitzy holiday may be over, but it’s no excuse to lose your fashion-forward motivations now! Make sure to stay chic and take note of the 5 huge trends of this season.

1.   VELVET

This winter, velvet has made a comeback! The soft-feeling fabric has always been associated with a rich and luxurious appearance. It has been seen on countless celebs, in designer collections and even on Miss Universe winner, Olivia Culpo, when she won the pageant! If you’re petite, velvet can make you appear bulky. Don’t let that make you avoid this sumptuous trend- opt for velvet accents or accessories instead.

2.    Oversized Sweaters

Now this is a trend we love for post-holiday season. Hide your gingerbread house and pie filled tummies with a huge sweater! I’m not talking about stepping out in an oversized sweater with sweatpants and scrunchies- this cozy staple can look fashion-forward and chic. Balance the bulk of heavy knits with slim or short bottoms, like skinny jeans, leather leggings or a mini skirt. Add some glam shoes and costume jewelry and you’re good to go!

3.    24K Gold Lips

If you can’t afford diamonds, go for the gold! Gold lips are hot this season- A gold gloss can be worn alone or over a favorite lipstick to create a warm and shimmery effect. The metallic color will make you feel like a million bucks and add instant femininity, sparkle and glamor to your face.

4.    Winter White

The snow may start to melt soon, but that shouldn’t stop you from shying away from this winter trend. Forget the outdated “you can’t wear white after Labor Day” cliché fashion rule. The winter white trend is your friend and will make you look white hot. This trend is embracing the color of the snowy season! Celebrities like Miranda Kerr and J. Lo have been spotted in all white outfits.

5.    Lavender Locks

The idea of purple hair may seem a little silly and a risk only to be taken on Halloween, but it is indeed a new trend! Purple hair comes in many shades, such as lavender, lilac and even magenta. Many starts have dared to rock it, but do you? Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne and Azealia Banks have all embraced it, while some other stars, like Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato, have dip-dyed, ombred and streaked their hair in this pastel color. Don’t want to commit to a crazy hue? Use hair chalk or temporary dye for a not-so-permanent ‘do!
